Your SwimVacation in the British Virgin Islands will include:
- Seven days, six nights aboard the Promenade, a trimaran sailing yacht
- All freshly prepared meals and drinks (casual meals, open bar)
- Guided swims in beautiful places (usually two per day)
- Stroke and Open Water Swimming technique clinics (optional)
- Access to all the amenities aboard the yacht. These include snorkel gear, floating mats, kayaks, fishing gear, zodiac, water skis, kneeboards, tubes, wifi internet access, plasma screen TV, stereo system and tons more.
Swims
All swims are guided, with at least two SwimVacation staff members swimming with the group, and one sometimes tailing the group in a kayak or dinghy. We do not race. We tour the reefs, have fun, and often we stop to see fish and coral. You can go hard, or you can go easy. Elite swimmers will be offered longer swims. Tour locations change every day: over massive coral reefs, along white sand beaches, around tropical cays. Swims are tailored to meet the needs of swimmers with different abilities. With only six to ten swimming guests per trip, two groups may be formed, and each group may create different goals. Ocean swimming is our passion, and it’s the focus of activity on your SwimVacation. Stroke/Open Water Swimming Clinics
The clear waters of the BVI allow us to take videos of your stroke right in the open water during the first 2 days of your trip. On the second or third night we have a collaborative stroke analysis for every guest on board the Promenade using her HD TV. During the week we also cover open water swimming techniques such as safety, sighting and navigation, buoy turns, pack swimming and drafting, nautical chart reading for swimmers, and race strategy.
The Yacht Promenade
Promenade is a 65- ft, schooner-rigged trimaran, 35-ft wide. The three hulls allow for a very smooth, stable sailing experience. The roomy cockpit has a permanent shade awning where we take our meals and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the islands. The staterooms are spacious, well appointed, and fully air conditioned when needed. There is plenty of deck space for stretching out, and the trampoline is a favorite spot for napping or watching the blue waters beneath go by.
Accommodations
There are 5 guest cabins: three with queen-sized berths and two with twin berths that can be converted to a king by request. Click Here for a layout of the Promenade. All cabins have washbasin and mirror. The port and starboard queen cabins have private bathrooms. The other three cabins share two bathrooms. Call or email us at SwimVacation to check cabin availability.
Food and Beverage
Enjoy freshly prepared meals, three times daily. All trips have an open bar, which includes a large selection of beer, wine, liquor, and soft drinks. Water and snacks will be available before, during, and after your swims. Special dietary needs can be accommodated to a certain extent.
Activities
There are endless possibilities for play in the British Virgin Islands. Snorkeling, water skiing, kneeboarding, wakeboarding, sand castle building, shopping, hiking, and napping are just a few.
Running and Cycling
We understand that many of our customers are training for all three legs of a triathlon. Training runs can be scheduled throughout the trip. We do not recommend cycling in the British Virgin Islands.
