Wednesday winds and wins.

It’s late and my belly is FULL. So parakalor excuse me but I am going to keep this short.

Joao moved us first thing to Kokkinokastro Bay on Alonnisos - a sweet little bay we haven’t been to in years. We are still on the run from the wind (no more jellies though…) so we are being creative with our locations. We forgot how much we like this bay, with its red earth tones and island made completely of conglomerate rock…geology so different from everything else around here. We swam round the little island in the bay, totally swelly and bouncy on the other side. We set about to playing like monk seals. A little more meandering and back to the boat.

Henry prepared a hot brunch for us which was welcomed because we were COLD. The air temp is just a little cool and this wind doesn’t help. So thanks for the amazing hot brunch of spanish omelette and greek salad, Henry! He brought the hot pan to the table with a dish towel hand knitted by his Mum (yes, the one that has 13 children, no, that is not a typo). So sweet.

Bellies full (for the first time today) we moved to our next swim spot - one of our favs we have come to call

The Shelf.

This little hidden bay has an incredible secret hallway you access from underwater. There is a skylight in this emerald hall, only accessible to us merpeople. That skylight makes the most incredible God Shine beam of light right into the water. It’s other worldly. We all took a turn in it. Magical.

Re-chilled, we 5 climbed back aboard and Henry produced a tray of steaming cups of hot chocolate. Brilliant.

We pulled into Patitiri Harbour and had an uncharacteristically easy docking experience. There’s a new dock master in town, a lovely young woman. The dock has never been more organized or orderly. Efcharisto, Madam Dock Mistress.

We gussied up and headed up the hill for a fantastic dinner made up mostly of cheese, and for the second time today, our bellies are full. The view from up there is outstanding. We meandered around the old town, did a little shopping for the folks at home. A really lovely evening.

We are secure on the dock tonight, digesting, resting, dreaming of the swims ahead. Joao will get us started early tomorrow as we aim for new territory that the wind will force us to explore. I have no doubts something special awaits.
