Monday is Simon's Secret Stash of Tzatziki.

And that title has nothing to do with today’s activities other than Kyle invented that tongue twister over lunch. And Tzatziki.

Mondays. Right? Wrong.

Let’s just start this Monday with one of my fav swims in all of Greece, shall we? Ok. I’ll probably say that more than once. Still it didn’t disappoint. It never does.

First thing this morning Joao moved us just a half mile east along the Southern shore of Skopelos to Amarandos Cove for a swim that never disappoints. Simon and I have taken to naming these swims in our guiding shorthand - this one is “But wait, there’s more!”. A fun little schtick we do after the first two amazing sights along this route. Oh you know, crystal clear water, gradients of blue, a little cave, a corner, a T shaped cut in the cliff with a cave at each end, a bajillion little fish, slices of silver in between.

The showstopper is the fjord, a deep crevasse topped with pines and a secret beach at the end. And if that weren’t enough, it’s just a little further to one of our fav swim throughs of all time - a 25 foot dive to the bottom, through a tunnel and room in the rocks, exit through a slice of an opening on the far side. It’s not for everyone, but Kyle and Kendra just couldn’t skip it. Myssie did camera duty while we took turns swimming through and spotting one another. Deep blue fun.

Back to the boat, the long way, the slow way, to dive and play, looking at stuff, laughing. Making goofy pics of the antics. Easy. Yes.

Antics included Simon squeezing through a non-Simon size hole.

We arrived to Henry and Joao playing the theme to Chariots of Fire. Flattering! We desalted out palates with juicy slices of nectarine. Lunch was a Mediterranean Faroe Fusion take on tuna salad with the perfect jammy hard boiled that satisfied and fueled everyone for a nap.

Wake up, afternoon swim is here! Myssie decided to go back to sleep and who can blame her, this is a vacation after all. Kyle, Kendra, Simon and I jumped into a bouncy sea and made the rounds of Stafilos Bay, with its cracks and fissures and a million places to squeeze into. We roamed and meandered our way around to the Cave That Barfs Rainbows - Simon named it this a few years ago. When the surge is just right, the spray from the cave catches the afternoon sun and it spits out rainbows. Sadly for us it wasn’t very belly sick today, and we only got one rainbow. Are we complaining that this cave barfed only one rainbow for us? No we are not.

We finished with a fun impromptu photo shoot in the cut between two rocks, and lucky for us, Joao had jumped in to join. He’s poet, did you know it? He composed a poem after toweling off. I’ve shared it below. Bravo!

We reluctantly climbed out, delicious appetizers appeared and chatter and on to dinner which was a pasta to die for, followed by chocolate cake recipe courtesy of Henry’s mom. She had 13 children, so this cake is aimed to please everyone.

And so the day started with a But There’s More swim and ended with a Cave That Barfed One Rainbow. Monday, eh? Ok. Yes.

The soft dusk came, the night sky followed. I’m jumping in with Kendra for our nightly dip. The bioluminescence makes us feel like magical faries.

A Poem By Joao

Days…
Without plans
Expectations
And yet
Everything goes.

Perhaps by wishing

nothing…

Accepting everything

Receiving all
With open arms
Whatever life
Offers

I am freer this way
More so
Than the other version.

The one that waits.
That yearns
And rejects,
That demands
And refuses.

This version
is also me
The me
that doesn't choose

The me
Perhaps imposed,
Forced,
leaves me tired
From so much dissatisfaction.

That is why
These days
Are just like it
As if
I,
Would not exist.

The freedom of being,
The strength
Of Authentically,
Not giving a damn!

Whatever will be,
Will be
And whoever gets to know it

Will have a tale
To tell.
