Ack! I have a cold! I ignored the start of it for a few days but today I’m just too gross for public. Thankfully, I am surrounded by great fellow crew and guides who are carrying the torch on this very windy Wednesday.

We are hiding in the lee of Skopelos, and still it is howling out there. Simon and Kekau took our intrepid group of swimmers on a 1.6 mile swim that started calm and ended in the wind. Thank you both for camera duty! As usual, Kekau found all manner of cool creatures, including another octopus. The gang climbed aboard to hot tomato soup. I grabbed some and retreated back to my snotty room.

Henry put out a great, warm, filling lunch of spanish and spinach omelets, and then everyone bedded down for a mid day snoozy to the sound of the howling wind. I was lucky to get a steamed face massage by my Hawaiian little brother, Kekau. It cleared my sinuses a bit and put me right to sleep.

With the wind still howling, Simon and Kekau headed out with our swimmers to cover another stretch of lee coastline. They found some caves and of course an octopus swam right up to Kekau - if you want to see one, you gotta swim with him! They brought back good stories and pics and vids.

Joao made me some ginger tea which I downed while editing photos and videos from Simon and Kekau. The whole gang is headed across the island to have dinner in Skopelos town tonight, a little town I really love. But I know I need to lay low to get back to business tomorrow.

I can’t stress enough how important it is that our SwimVacation teams work together, love each other and take care of one another. This work is amazing, but I promise, it’s harder than it looks. When one of us goes down, it’s important to know the team will pick up the ball, and also take care of whomever needs it. I was so bummed to miss out on today, but I feel so lucky to know that our trip and I are in such good hands. Thanks, guys.

Work doesn’t get much better than that.

I think everyone will sleep well tonight, and I’ll be ready to splash in with these swimmers tomorrow, wherever the wind will take us.
